About
Mariangela Parra-Lancourt joined the Development Strategy and Policy Analysis Unit (http://www.un.org/esa/policy/wess) as Economic Affairs Officer in 2008. She has co-authored several articles on economic development and international trade, with emphasis on patterns of specialization and terms of trade. Before joining the Development and Policy Analysis Division in 2007, initially as part of the Global Monitoring Unit, she served as inter-regional advisor for the Under-Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs at the United Nations in New York. Previously she served as regional advisor for the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile. In Colombia, her country of origin, she served as an advisor to the Minister of Transportation, and as part of Corfivalle (Corporacion Financiera del Valle) Investment Banking research team. She holds an MA in Economics from Los Andes University in Bogota.
